TINK - sketching product experiences of connected objects

Tink is the result of my graduation project from the master in design for interaction at TUDelft. Tink is a web platform that connects products with one another via the Internet, it provides designers with a complete Internet of Things (IOT) development environment. Designers are provided with a rich stack of features to sketch, prototype and test IOT projects. Tink is a user-friendly, visual, collaborative, open-source tool for designers to build connected interactions among objects.

The fact that different tools require<br />

different levels <strong>of</strong> skill as shown in Figure<br />

26 is also directly <strong>connected</strong> to the fact<br />

that the different solutions are targeting<br />

The End-user<br />

End users might be interested in Connected<br />

Object tools to simplify their life, keep in<br />

touch with people and monitor things over<br />

longer distances.<br />

In terms <strong>of</strong> skill, end user don’t have<br />

electronic or programming background,<br />

they are however able to operate<br />

smartphone apps and computers.<br />

As already discussed in the chapter about<br />

tools, end user <strong>product</strong>s present a limited<br />

amount <strong>of</strong> “openness”. Tools designed<br />

for end users are most <strong>of</strong> the times a<br />

combination <strong>of</strong> hardware and s<strong>of</strong>tware. This<br />
