TINK - sketching product experiences of connected objects
Tink is the result of my graduation project from the master in design for interaction at TUDelft. Tink is a web platform that connects products with one another via the Internet, it provides designers with a complete Internet of Things (IOT) development environment. Designers are provided with a rich stack of features to sketch, prototype and test IOT projects. Tink is a user-friendly, visual, collaborative, open-source tool for designers to build connected interactions among objects.

THE EVENTS LINKER<br />
Event linkers are a type <strong>of</strong> s<strong>of</strong>tware which<br />
facilitate the programming <strong>of</strong> simple event<br />
based behaviors:<br />
Events can be triggered by sensors (e.g.<br />
The temperature dropped) or by digital<br />
events (e.g. Receive an email, like on<br />
Facebook etc.). The triggered actions can<br />
be either digital (e.g. Send an email) or<br />
physical (e.g. Turn on the light).<br />
Some linking s<strong>of</strong>tware allow the linking<br />
<strong>of</strong> discrete values (e.g. Adjust the level <strong>of</strong><br />
the light according to the loudness <strong>of</strong> the<br />
room).<br />
Most <strong>of</strong> the time the mapping <strong>of</strong> a trigger<br />
to an action doesn’t allow for complex<br />
condition (If this and that…)<br />
THE SDK<br />
A s<strong>of</strong>tware development kit (SDK or<br />
“devkit”) is typically a set <strong>of</strong> s<strong>of</strong>tware<br />
development tools that allows for the<br />
creation <strong>of</strong> applications for a certain<br />
s<strong>of</strong>tware package, s<strong>of</strong>tware framework,<br />
hardware platform, computer system, video<br />
game console, operating system, or similar<br />
development platform.<br />
It may be something as simple as the<br />
implementation <strong>of</strong> one or multiple<br />
application programming interfaces (API)<br />
in the form <strong>of</strong> some libraries to interface<br />
to a particular programming language<br />
or include sophisticated hardware to<br />
communicate with a certain embedded<br />
system.<br />
An example <strong>of</strong> a SDK is Temboo 37 : a set<br />
<strong>of</strong> API that allows you to interface your<br />
hardware platform with more than 100<br />
different third party web services. Through<br />
its web interface Temboo goes beyond<br />
providing just a s<strong>of</strong>tware library, it is also<br />
able to generate pieces <strong>of</strong> code ready to be<br />
copy-pasted.
