Langkawi International Airport voted one of the
best airports by Airports Council International
Langkawi International Airport (LIA) added another feather
to its cap when it bagged the award for Top 3 Best Airports
under the two to five million passengers per annum (MPPA)
category from the Airports Council International (ACI) Airport
Service Quality (ASQ) Award 2016, recently.
The ACI ASQ survey measures service quality at airports
based on passenger feedback. For 2016, LIA had achieved
high scores for elements such as courtesy and helpfulness of
airport staff, walking distance inside the terminal, safety and
security at the airport, as well as waiting time at passport/
personal ID inspection.
Malaysia Airports Managing Director, Datuk Badlisham Ghazali
said, "This award validates our ongoing efforts in improving
service excellence. It is evident to me that our staff at Langkawi
International Airport truly embraces the company’s mission of
creating joyful experiences at our airports. Langkawi already
has many attractions to offer visitors, a good experience at
the airport will be the icing on the cake."
ACI World Director General, Angela Gittens said, "I am
delighted that as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of
helping airports understand how best to serve their customers
with the ASQ Programme, we see our largest group of
winners ever. These airports have dedicated themselves
to delivering a stellar customer experience. Promoting a
culture of continuous service improvement has become a
matter of gaining competitive advantage and optimising nonaeronautical
revenue performance. ACI proudly recognises
these accomplishments and we look forward to seeking more
effective, efficient and profitable ways of serving the flying
public together."
The airport won the 'Best Airport by Region (Asia Pacific)
for Fewer than 2 Million Passengers per Year (0-2 MPPA)'
category in 2013 and 2014. In 2015, the airport moved into a
new category due to its growing numbers. In 2016, the airport
registered 2.7 million passenger
movements which saw a double
digit growth of 13.6%.
The ASQ Awards are presented to
those airports whose customers
have rated them the highest
over the course of the year. The
categories have been designated
to recognise the achievements
of airports of different sizes and
in different regions. The ASQ
Awards Ceremony will be held at
the 27th ACI Africa/World Annual
General Assembly, Conference &
Exhibition at Port Louis, Mauritius,
between 16 and 18 October 2017.
