Malaysia Airlines receives IATA
Fast Travel Green certificate
IATA’s Fast Travel Programme
ranked MAS on the usage of
six areas of passenger travel
which includes check-in, bags
ready-to-go, document check,
flight re-booking, self-boarding
and bag recovery. Malaysia
Airlines earned the Green
ranking by meeting five of the
requirements which are check-in, bags ready-to-go, flight
re-booking, self-boarding and bag recovery.
The country's national airline became the first Malaysian carrier
to receive the International Air Transport Association (IATA)
Fast Travel Green certificate.
The certificate shows Malaysia Airlines' efforts in making
passengers’ travel more flexible and convenient via its selfservice
facilities.
IATA’s Area Manager for Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei,
Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Maldives, Sunil Chopra
presented the certificate to Malaysia Airlines’ Chief
Executive Officer, Peter Bellew at a ceremony held at the
airport on February 22.
Bellew said the achievement marked a great milestone towards
improving overall customer experience with the airlines.
aims to bring in
RM15 million sales from its e-wallet
Firefly is aiming to generate RM15 million of sales from its
online 'FY' e-wallet as it has already brought in RM1 million
in sales from 115 registered accounts and across 1,000
active users.
Since its soft launch in December, Firefly Chief Executive
Officer, Ignatius Ong said the e-wallet option is made
available to provide convenience for customers in booking
their tickets online.
He said the airline recorded a softer demand in 2016 due to
poor ringgit value. As a result, the airline's passenger target
is 1.6 million this year compared to 1.8 million achieved last
year. Firefly also reduced its fleet to six aircraft from 12 after
recording only 60 percent load for its aircraft in 2016.
On top of the prepaid amount, customers who purchase the
e-wallet will receive value-added cash bonuses.
The e-wallet is open for all individual
purchases with expiration date for each
category varying between three to six months
from the purchase date.
Ong said this was a strategy to move forward to entice
customers and passengers to fly with Firefly.
