LA RAMBLA

A meeting place for all social classes, it was
once the only place where everyone could
stroll and spend their leisure time. The street
is 1.2 kilometres long and houses landmark
buildings such as an opera theatre, Gran
Teatre del Liceu, the Palau de la Virreina
which comprises government office buildings
and the spectacular La Boqueria Market.
The street is also lined with a plethora of
fast food, souvenir and florist stands.

LA BOQUERIA MARKET
It is advisable to enjoy at a moderate
pace because one will be spoiled for
choice here. Fruits, vegetables, fish and
seafood, tapas bars and restaurants – all
in one place. The place not only sells
and feeds you food, it also teaches you
how to cook them as it houses culinary
classroom sessions where children and
adults are taught to cook. If you're
planning on going to the market, do a
quick search online and read up on their
gastronomic events which are organised
every day.

Not quite as posh as Passeig de Gracia,
the street does have several high quality
high street bargains which include Zara,
Bershka, Benetton, Massimo Dutti,
Pull&Bear, H&M, Mango and shopping
centre, El Corte Inglés. Apart from that,
you will pass by stands selling
handcrafted products as well as
bookstores, toy stores and a shop selling
handmade nougat that is touted to draw
long lines of customers when Christmas
is around the corner.

We're veering off by 40 kilometres here
but it's worth it if you're a shopaholic.
A luxury outlet shopping village with
over 100 designer boutiques, cafes and
restaurants, it is a 30-minute drive from
Barcelona situated near the village of
Santa Agnès de Malanyanes. La Roca is
a recreated Catalan village with top
brands offering amazing deals off high
street prices. A smart move to amp that
wardrobe without breaking the bank!
