GUA BAO IN TAIWAN<br />
Gua Bao or pork belly bao may have originated in Fuzhou, the capital of China’s Fujian province but it is in Taiwan<br />
that it has found home. The most popular street snack in Taiwan, Gua Bao is a steamed open bun filled with sticky<br />
pork belly, pickled mustard greens and other condiments. They are also called Taiwanese hamburgers as the locals<br />
prefer these to the western versions. Another popular name "hó-kā-ti" translates into ‘tiger bites pig’, referring to<br />
the imagery of the semi-circular bun that looks like an open mouth. Lan Jia Gua Bao in Taipei, Tawian is popular<br />
with locals and tourists alike. You can wait in queue for a table or just grab one from the small cart right outside the<br />
restaurant for 55 TWD ($1.80).<br />
