Digital Cameras
Auditors can use digital cameras to take pictures of problems (a rusty container, a defect, damage, and so on)
while they are auditing. The digital camera can be connected to a notebook computer or printer, and pictures
taken with the camera can be shown on the computer screen or an image printer. The pictures can be shown
at the exit meeting and/or included in the report. Bringing images of problems to management is very powerful.
The use of digital cameras does much to improve the effectiveness of audits.3 Auditors can also use cellular
phones that have good- quality cameras. Cellular phones and small digital cameras are less intrusive than
regular full- size cameras or single- lens reflex cameras. Small cameras and smartphones can be worn on the
belt or clipped to clothing for easy access. Some organizations do not allow auditors to take pictures during
audits. Before taking a picture, ensure that the organization permits this evidence- gathering method.
