<str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> Forbidden City 37<br />
didn’t understand all <strong>the</strong> parts about Communism<br />
and was glad when <strong>the</strong>y got to <strong>the</strong> part about<br />
modern <strong>China</strong> and its ec<strong>on</strong>omic boom.<br />
Just as <strong>the</strong> kids began to get bored, <strong>the</strong><br />
movie ended. <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g>y walked back out into <strong>the</strong><br />
bright sunshine, squinting.<br />
“Christina! Li!” Grant hissed, as Mimi<br />
and Papa walked <strong>on</strong> ahead.<br />
“What?” asked Christina, waiting up for<br />
<strong>the</strong> two boys.<br />
As <strong>the</strong> kids huddled in a small knot, Grant<br />
told <strong>the</strong> girls how <strong>the</strong>y had seen <strong>the</strong> angry man<br />
beneath <strong>the</strong> drag<strong>on</strong> costume. Grant <strong>the</strong>n<br />
showed <strong>the</strong>m <strong>the</strong> fortune cookie that said he<br />
would find <strong>the</strong>m at <strong>the</strong> Forbidden City.<br />
“Well, we’d better be <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> lookout,” said<br />
Christina. “What does he look like?”<br />
Grant looked puzzled. “Like a Chinese<br />
man,” he finally said in exasperati<strong>on</strong>. “Like all<br />
<strong>the</strong>se Chinese men!”<br />
“I might recognize him,” said C<strong>on</strong>g. “Did<br />
you notice <strong>the</strong> scar he had over his eyebrow?<br />
And when he pulled his drag<strong>on</strong> costume up, I<br />
saw a yellow silk lining in his suit coat.”<br />
“That’s not much help,” said Li.
