80 <strong>The</strong> <strong>Mystery</strong> on the Great Wall of China
so brightly that it looked much like a gigantic
amusement park midway.
When Hong Kong grew smaller as they
headed out into the harbor, the kids turned their
attention to the city of Kowloon, coming more
clearly into view. Soon, they approached that
dock and the kids hurried to be first to get off.
Christina and Grant were surprised when
Li and Cong began to cry and scream and wave
and jump up and down.
“It’s our parents!” cried Li. “<strong>The</strong>y are
here to greet us!”
As soon as they were allowed, Li and
Cong ran off the ferry and into the arms of
their waiting parents. When the others caught
up, everyone was introduced and Mr. Fu
announced that they were taking everyone to
their favorite restaurant. It was on a large boat
docked on the water.
<strong>The</strong> adults walked on ahead and the kids
followed, arm in arm.
“This is so much fun,” said Christina, “to
be out so late at night in a glamorous
international city, going to dinner on a big boat.”
