Clubs & Enrichment Activities<br />

There is a lot going on at lunch<strong>time</strong> and after classes<br />

finish, most of which is free of charge. Activities<br />

include The Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award,<br />

badminton, table tennis, football, ultimate frisbee,<br />

dodgeball, boxercise, basketball, cricket & netball,<br />

circuit/fitness training, pool, LAN (local area network)<br />

& console gaming. These activities change regularly<br />

depending on their demand and if we don’t offer your<br />

favourite hobby/club, tell us and we’ll see if we can<br />

set it up.<br />

Fitness Suite<br />

We want all of our students to feel fit, healthy and<br />

happy. Any student can access the Fitness Suite<br />

based in Victoria Hall, whether you want to build<br />

muscle, tone up, or simply have some fun while<br />

improving your fitness and socialising with friends.<br />

Volunteering<br />

We have lots of opportunities to enrich your CV or<br />

university application, improve your leadership skills<br />

and make you stand out from the crowd!<br />

• Gain valuable experience, rewards and even<br />

additional qualifications within the <strong>College</strong><br />

working with local agencies and service providers.<br />

• Organise and promote events.<br />

• Fundraise for local & national charities and<br />

organisations to claim a nationally recognised<br />

certificate through vInspired.<br />

• Complete voluntary work as part of The Duke of<br />

Edinburgh Award.<br />

• Take part in the National Citizen Service or NCS,<br />

as it’s more commonly known.<br />

Student Discount<br />

If you are a student or an apprentice you are eligible<br />

to buy an NUS TOTEM card for £12. With the card, you<br />

will be able to take advantage of student discounts<br />

offered in a variety of outlets including restaurants,<br />

high street stores, supermarkets and UK attractions.<br />

The Learning Resource Centre (LRC)<br />

Offering more than just books...<br />

The Learning Resource Centre is for everyone at<br />

<strong>Shipley</strong> <strong>College</strong>. Our helpful, friendly team of staff are<br />

always ready to lend a hand and offer advice. Based<br />

in our Exhibition Building, the LRC provides a ‘onestop-shop’<br />

for information, computing, study and<br />

coursework presentation requirements.<br />

There is a flexible learning environment with<br />

individual and group study work areas where you can<br />

access a wide variety of learning resources including<br />

books, magazines, newspapers, DVDs and online<br />

resources.<br />

The LRC has a wide range of mobile technology<br />

available to borrow to support your learning needs,<br />

including laptops, digital & video cameras and audio<br />

recorders. We also have equipment available to<br />

support students with additional learning needs.<br />

Just remember, you will need your <strong>College</strong> ID badge<br />

to borrow our resources. We look forward to<br />
