What’s been happening in the CofE4B:<br />

• Students took part in a Dragon’s Den style competition, where they appealed to a panel<br />

of employers for funds to help them start their own businesses. In addition, successful<br />

entrepreneur and BBC Dragon’s Den candidate, Sarah Agar-Brennan, visited students<br />

to talk about her LoveBomb ‘emoji’ cushion business, her new ventures and also gave<br />

out some freebies!<br />

• Local employers worked with students in an intensive CV workshop and provided oneto-one<br />

advice to help develop their CVs and interview skills.<br />

• Employers including Sky, Barclays, Accent Housing, Incommunities, Xpand Marketing<br />

and AdviserPlus visited the CofE4B to work with students on different projects, with<br />

the aim of helping them learn more about working life.<br />

• Mentored by employers, students took part in the CofE4B Challenge Cup with tasks<br />

that tested logic, theory and physical skills. The winning team were led by Xpand<br />

Marketing who said, ‘We had a great <strong>time</strong> working with the students and were super<br />

happy our team won the cup!’<br />

• Students and staff have welcomed representatives from the media industry in to the<br />

CofE4B including actress Michelle Hassan, who spoke about her role on an ITV show.<br />

ITV Operations Manager, Manny Grillo gave students an insight in to the broadcasting<br />

industry, including the importance of offering diverse programmes and how music is<br />

used within productions.<br />

Software Development & Programming students 3D print, build<br />

and program a life-size robot<br />

Software Development & Programming students, led by tutor Steve Mullarkey, have<br />

been 3D printing, building and programming a life-sized “InMoov” robot, named Titus<br />

by students. This project is an exciting opportunity for students to learn about the latest<br />

developments in the industry. This year they are 3D printing Titus’ legs and will be<br />

programming him to answer questions and greet people he recognises.<br />
