Business Retail BTEC Level 2<br />

Entry requirements<br />
• 2 GCSEs at grade 3 (D), to include English. Maths<br />
must be at grade 2 (E) or above.<br />

A full Level 1 at Pass grade, plus a GCSE grade 3<br />
(D) or above in English and a grade 2 (E) or above<br />
in maths.<br />
• You will have an interview and further assessment<br />
to check the course is right for you.<br />
About the course<br />
Are you outgoing, interested in sales and giving<br />
customers the best shopping experience? On this<br />
course you will gain an insight in to the growing retail<br />
industry. You will study customer relations, business<br />
planning, financial control, business networks and<br />
online sales. You will study this course as part of<br />
a programme which includes maths, English and<br />
work experience. Your structured work experience<br />
will be with loyal employers to help you prepare for<br />
employment. To be considered for the course you<br />
must be enthusiastic and be prepared to work hard.<br />
Your future<br />
On successful completion of the course, you could<br />
progress to the Business BTEC Level 3, start<br />
an apprenticeship in an area such as Business<br />
Administration or Customer Service, or find<br />
employment in the many retail opportunities across<br />
West Yorkshire.<br />
Using what you have learnt on this course, you could<br />
also move on to a different career pathway such<br />
as Creative Digital Media Production, Computing or<br />
Travel & Tourism.<br />

Entry requirements<br />
• 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English<br />
& maths. If you do not have grade 4 (C) or above in both<br />
subjects, the minimum for the other subject is grade 3 (D).<br />

A full Level 2 at Pass grade or above with maths &<br />
English grades equivalent to those stated above.<br />
Students with grade 3 (D) or above in either English or maths<br />
will be expected to re-take that subject in Year 1.<br />
About the course<br />
Develop the professional skills and understanding<br />
needed to succeed in a range of business roles in<br />
this varied sector. In this practical and work-related<br />
course, you will explore many key areas including<br />
marketing, human resources, finance and website<br />
design. To be considered for the course, you need to<br />
be enthusiastic and be prepared to work hard. You<br />
also complete an industry placement where you will<br />
spend <strong>time</strong> working in your chosen career area.<br />
