You will study Level 3 modules in Human
Physiology and Psychology.
• Access to Health & Social Care
Professions
Health Professions pathway - You will study
Level 3 modules in Professional Health Care
Practice, Human Physiology and Psychology.
Social Care Professions pathway - You will study
Level 3 modules in Psychology and Counselling.
Entry requirements
• A minimum of 1 GCSE at grade 4 (C) or above,
including English or maths.
Please note, a Level 2 Functional Skills qualification
is no longer equivalent to a GCSE grade C so if you
currently hold this, progression to GCSE is subject
to assessment and meeting the required level.
• Self-motivation and good levels of English are
essential due to extensive coursework and exams.
• To progress to Higher Education for Primary
Teaching you will need grade 4 (C) or above, in
English, maths and Science.
• You will have an admissions interview and
assessment to help you decide if the course is
suitable for you.
About the course
The Access to Higher Education Diploma aims to
build confidence, develop study & written skills and
offers you the opportunity to improve your maths
& English. On this course, you study mandatory
modules and receive in-class tutorial support. You
will also be expected to study for a further 15-20
hours outside of the classroom.
Your future
Access courses have an excellent track record.
Our students have gone on to study a wide variety of
courses at many different universities and colleges.
Health & Social Care Professions pathway students
have gone on to study Biomedical Sciences, Nursing
(Child, Adult & Mental Health), Midwifery Studies,
Radiography, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy,
Paramedic Science, Chemistry and Forensic Medical
Science, Psychology, Counselling, Criminology and
Social Work to name a few.
Primary Teaching students have gone on to study
Primary Education with QTS, Education Studies and
to become Teaching Assistants, to name a few.
Please note: It is your responsibility to check the
entry requirements of the institutions you want to
apply to. Many universities are no longer accepting
Level 2 equivalents.
Costs
If you are 19-23 and studying your first Level 3
course, you may be eligible for full funding. If you are
not eligible and are aged 19 or above, you can apply
for an Advanced Learner Loan. This is completed at
your induction.
You will need a small amount of money to buy
recommended textbooks and stationery such as
files, paper and pens. You may be able to get financial
support from the Learner Support Fund for help
with course materials, equipment, travel costs and
childcare costs. To find out if you are eligible, speak

popular course.
You study full-time for one year, attending College on
the following days:
Monday - half day from either 9.30am-12.30pm
or 1-4pm
Tuesday & Wednesday - Full day from 9am-4pm
