Travel & Tourism BTEC Level 2<br />
Course length: 1 year | Code: 4026<br />
Entry requirements<br />
• 2 GCSEs at grade 3 (D), to include English. Maths<br />
must be at grade 2 (E) or above.<br />
or<br />
A Level 1 at Pass grade, plus a GCSE grade 3 (D) or<br />
above in English.<br />
• You will have an interview and further assessment<br />
to check the course is right for you.<br />
• A keen interest in working in the travel industry.<br />
• You will be invited to a ‘taster’ session to find out<br />
more about the course.<br />
About the course<br />
You will develop the skills needed for a career in<br />
the Travel & Tourism industry. Learn about holiday<br />
bookings, customer service in hotels, tour operations<br />
and airports. You find out how to research and<br />
market tourist destinations. You also go on visits to<br />
a range of organisations to see how a travel related<br />
business is run on a day-to-day basis and gain vital<br />
work experience to help prepare you for future<br />
employment.<br />
Study visits and a residential form an integral part<br />
of this course and you may be required to contribute<br />
towards the cost. You are encouraged to consider<br />
fundraising initiatives to help cover these costs.<br />
You will also be required to provide a basic uniform<br />
for assessment sessions.<br />
Your future<br />
After successfully completing this course, you can<br />
move on to the Travel & Tourism BTEC Level 3, or<br />
use the skills and experience you have gained to find<br />
employment in the Travel & Tourism industry.<br />

Entry requirements<br />
• 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English<br />
& maths. If you do not have grade 4 (C) or above in both<br />
subjects, the minimum for the other subject is grade 3 (D).<br />

A full Level 2 at Pass grade or above.<br />
Students with grade 3 (D) in either English or maths will be<br />
expected to re-take that subject in Year 1.<br />

About the course<br />
You learn about subjects related to the Travel,<br />
Tourism & Aviation industry which will include<br />
worldwide destinations, customer service, holiday<br />
representatives, retail/business travel, handling air<br />
passengers, passenger terminal management along<br />
with many others that make up the full qualification.<br />
Study visits and a residential, which may be both<br />
in the UK and overseas, form an integral part of<br />
this course and you may be required to contribute<br />
towards the cost. You are encouraged to consider<br />

Take advantage of the unique opportunity to go on a<br />
week-long work experience opportunity overseas.<br />
Students have previously travelled out to the Costa<br />
del Sol to work in the ‘First Choice’ Holiday Village.<br />
This first-hand experience shows what it is like to<br />
work in a resort by shadowing holiday reps, taking<br />
part in planning fun activities and visiting hotels,<br />
resorts and airports. In addition, you complete<br />
further work experience to give you a vital taste of<br />
careers in this industry.<br />
You will also be required to provide a basic uniform<br />
for assessment sessions.<br />
Your future<br />
After the course, you can study at college or<br />
university at a higher level, or use the skills and<br />
experience you have gained to progress further in<br />
your career in the Travel, Tourism & Aviation industry.<br />
