Accounting, Business, Customer Service & Marketing<br />

Assistant Accountant<br />

Level 3 Apprenticeship<br />

Course length: 18 months | Code: 3383<br />

Entry requirements<br />

• An apprenticeship vacancy in your chosen area.<br />

• You will have an interview.<br />

• These will be set by the employer, but typically<br />

include 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including<br />

grade 4 (C) or above in English & maths.<br />

• You must pass an initial assessment in English<br />

& maths.<br />

About the course<br />

You will develop your knowledge and skills with<br />

topics including double-entry bookkeeping,<br />

preparation of final accounts for the sole trader and<br />

partnership, costings, professional ethics, indirect<br />

tax and spreadsheets. You could progress straight in<br />

to job roles such as a Trainee Accounting Technician<br />

or Assistant Accountant. Alternatively, you can move<br />

on to further study in a subject related to accounting,<br />

such as an AAT Professional Diploma in Accountancy.<br />

I work as an administrator completing various<br />

tasks within the office. My workload varies<br />

day-to-day and the people I work with are lovely<br />

which makes my job a satisfying one. At the<br />

moment, I am happy completing my training and<br />

working and I hope to be taken on permanently<br />

afterwards.’<br />

Your future<br />

You can go on to study a course at college or<br />

university, such as the Professional Accounting<br />

Technician Higher Apprenticeship Level 4.<br />

Alternatively, you can use the skills and experience<br />

you have gained to progress further in your career.<br />
