THE ELECTRICIAN AND THE LAW We live in a very interesting world. It is one that combines freely expressed intelligence with very specific law. Each individual has the freedom to use their intelligence to select the course they follow, but each is also subject to the laws of nature. Because these laws are absolutely specific, they can always be counted on. An apprentice electrician is someone in the process of uncovering and understanding the various principles of the law of electricity. He is not trying to invent the law. It is impossible to invent something which has always existed. It was already there long before it was recognized as such by the human race. He is, rather, trying to comprehend what already is, so that he may better use its power successfully. It is exactly what you are trying to do by reading this. When the apprentice considers which actions to take in order to achieve a particular goal, he uses his intelligence freely. As his understanding grows and he discovers how the law of electricity works, he confirms what already exists. To become a successful master electrician, he must ultimately learn how to harmonize his freely expressed intelligence and actions with the law he is putting to use. The master electrician knows the foolishness of trying to get around the law. He would no more consider short cuts than sticking his finger in an electrical socket. He very clearly knows the price. His healthy and unquestioning respect for the principles of the law of electricity, combined with his freely expressed intelligence, result in a harmonious
