in prison for bilking his law firm and some of its clients. Mr.<br />

Hubbell pleaded guilty last December to defrauding the Rose Law<br />

Firm, and to a lesser degree its clients, out of $482,410. He also<br />

admitted owing $143,747 in back taxes as a result of his fraud.<br />

“Better than anyone, I know the severity of my actions and their<br />

tremendous consequences on others, “Mr. Hubbell told U. S.<br />

District Judge George Howard Jr., at his sentencing yesterday. “I<br />

simply became overwhelmed and was unable at that time to face up<br />

to my failures .... I was simply wrong.” Mr. Hubbell also was<br />

sentenced to three years’ probation and community service. He will<br />

be required to make $135,000 restitution.<br />
