The way electricity has been harnessed and utilized in all sorts of ways
beneficial to humankind is an example. Nobody invented electricity.
On the contrary, the principles of the Law of Electricity existed long
before Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison stumbled across them. Once
they did, however, and came to understand the power of those
principles, they figured out ways to work in harmony with them to
produce great good in the world.
They knew that while we cannot change nature, we can through
intelligent choice, improve our relationship with it.
Likewise, nobody invented planting and cultivating a tulip bulb so that it
grows into a beautiful flower. Somewhere along the line people
discovered which actions produced great looking tulips. Those steps
were then recorded and practiced over and over to produce striking
blossoms.
The gardener learns that if certain steps are followed carefully and
weather conditions cooperate, the chances are pretty good that a healthy
flower will grow. It is hard to conceive that a gardener who understands
the principles involved would plant the bulb and then not provide
sufficient water, light or some other necessary conditions, thereby
assuring that flower’s early demise.
The same can be said for a chef’s careful preparation of a valued recipe.
The formula was arrived at no doubt, after countless attempts to find just
the right temperature, blend of ingredients, and time in the oven. It
represents the best understanding the chef has to date of which steps to
follow in order to accomplish the goal, namely a delicious meal. A
