LUCK
There is a rumor going around that luck is making a come-back as an
explanation for the circumstances and conditions of one’s life. It
certainly can contribute to minimizing the confusion and the guilt we
may feel – and be an appealing place to go when everything seems to be
going the wrong way, as in, what the hell just happened?
There are certainly cases where I would much prefer to attribute certain
things happening to bad luck! In truth though, when push comes to
shove and retrospection induced, I can usually find the reason for
whatever my challenge might be, right square in the first mirror that I
come across.
Still, the subject has been raised! The question of, what is the role of
luck in this life that we live? Research has been conducted about the
many superstitions related to luck, including study of the lucky and
unlucky symbols found in Christian, Chinese, Greek, Navajo and other
cultures. Many religions, polytheistic and otherwise have gods and
goddesses of luck.
Also, we know from available literature and legend that it has been a
topic of much speculation, interest and debate for the duration of our
bipedal opposable-thumb existence! So it does cry out for attention here,
and I would be remiss in leaving an important gap unaddressed in my
effort to explain, how life really works, in as comprehensive a manner as
possible.
You hear it expressed in many ways:
“The only luck I get is bad luck.”
