greeted by an undercover officer posing as an employee who asked<br />
them to produce identification. Then the suspects, all of whom had<br />
failed to show up for scheduled court appearances, were arrested.<br />
The charges were for offenses related to drugs, larceny, robbery and<br />
motor vehicle violations.<br />
Who knows what might have gone through the minds of these<br />
individuals during the time that they knew they were evading the law.<br />
Some may have been sick with worry. Others may have had no concern<br />
or guilt at all. They may have believed that they were clever enough to<br />
avoid capture even though they had already been identified as a culprit.<br />
Whatever may have been the case, the truth is that there was a<br />
mechanism set in motion by their actions, that was working away on<br />
bringing them to justice, but which they were seemingly unaware of.<br />
The day they walked into that store, however, they were rudely<br />
awakened to its existence.<br />
“Irrelevant,” one might say. “ The individuals involved in these stories<br />
were obviously just plain stupid. No intelligent person would be such an<br />
idiot to do these things, much less get caught.”<br />
So it would seem. Further examination of the facts, however, reveals a<br />
far different story. To illustrate the endemic nature of the issue, the<br />
following is a selective chronicle of events which took place in the year<br />
1995. They all involved prominent, intelligent and accomplished<br />
people, yet are all examples of how these individuals failed to grasp the<br />
causal connection between their thoughts, words and actions, and the<br />
resulting circumstances and conditions of their lives. The parallels to the<br />
scandals of post 2008 are stunning! Consider...<br />
