The understanding ofthis note or why he was reading this book, inparticular, at the time, is not something I canconcretely ascertain with any confidence. Although it seems apt to call theman apolitical ― as he usually decided againstspeaking about his political assertions ― Iassumed a secret interest, rather than adisliking of politics or politically inclinednovelists as Guy Deboci. An interest that I feelsecretly manifested in what I see as simplywriters friendly rivalry, especially regarding theUNVERIFIED comments Franz made in theUNEDITED version of his last interviewtowards Deboci.
