SIMATIC RF300<br />

■ Overview<br />

SIMATIC RF 300 is a non-contact identification system specially<br />

designed <strong>for</strong> use in industrial production <strong>for</strong> the control and<br />

optimization of the material flow. Thanks to its compact modular<br />

structure, it is particularly suited <strong>for</strong> small assembly lines and<br />

conveyor systems with restricted space <strong>for</strong> installation. The<br />

rugged components stand out thanks to their attractive<br />

price/per<strong>for</strong>mance ratio.<br />

Depending on the demands on the identification system, two<br />

versions of the system are available:<br />

• A particularly cost-effective solution with a link to SIMATIC<br />

S7-300 over the IQ-Sense interface <strong>for</strong> low requirements in<br />

terms of speed and data volume<br />

• Read/write devices <strong>for</strong> high demands in terms of speed and<br />

data volume <strong>for</strong> connection to SIMATIC, PROFIBUS, PC or<br />

other vendors controllers (available soon)<br />

The SIMATIC RF300 identification system boasts the following<br />

■ Application<br />

The RFID system SIMATIC RF 300 is used primarily <strong>for</strong> contactfree<br />

identification of containers, pallets and workpiece holders in<br />

a closed production cycle. This means that the data carriers<br />

(transponders, tags) remain in the production chain and are not<br />

shipped out with the products. Thanks to the compact enclosure<br />

dimensions of the transponders as well as of the read/write devices,<br />

SIMATIC RF 300 is particularly suitable <strong>for</strong> (small) assembly<br />

lines where space is at a premium.<br />

The main application areas of SIMATIC RF 300 are:<br />

• Assembly and handling systems, assembly lines (identification<br />

of workpiece carriers)<br />

• Production logistics (material flow control, identification of<br />

containers and other vessels)<br />

• Parts identification (e.g. transponder is attached to product or<br />

pallet)<br />
