Script to Screen – Advanced Television and Film 6429 LENGTH INTAKE CREDENTIAL LOCATION 1 year/2 semesters Fall Ontario College Graduate Certificate Story Arts Centre Over 15 career routes are available to grads of the Script to Screen – Advanced Television and Film program, which offers a comprehensive, hands-on understanding of how feature films and TV shows are developed and produced. This makes it particularly beneficial to writers, directors, producers, editors, actors, and other film and television craftspeople who want to expand their industry knowledge. Benefit from learning to create, pitch, outline, develop, draft, and polish production-ready short film scripts. During the second semester, prepare, perform in, shoot, and/or post a number of shows. Advanced instruction in your areas of craft interest results in in-depth knowledge and the wellroundedness to go further faster. They are the ones who create the characters that ultimately pull an audience into the story. No matter the genre, be it comedy, drama, or action adventure, the actor’s goal is to help the audience empathize with the hero’s struggle and to get emotionally involved in the hero’s journey. This intensive two-day workshop gives students a practical understanding of the art and craft of acting as well as clear, practical tips on how to help on-camera actors do their best work. The insights students gain should help them become better filmmakers — directors, writers, producers, editors — as well as better actors. The best way to collaborate with actors is to understand what acting itself entails. Through discussions, screenings, and exercises, students will sharpen their directing and acting skills and improve their ability to draw out the best possible performance. A special feature of this workshop is to give students an opportunity to direct professional actors brought in to perform a scene.
