LENGTH INTAKE CREDENTIAL LOCATION
1 year/2 semesters Fall Ontario College Graduate Certificate Morningside
A widely-reported national shortage of nurses is expected over the next 10 years. Bridging to
University Nursing helps registered practical nurses advance to a nursing degree. With a curriculum
based on the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Standards of Practice for Nursing and Entry-to-
Practice Competencies for Ontario Registered Nurses, it also prepares you to care for individuals,
groups, and communities in multiple settings. The program covers ethics and professional practice,
health assessment, skill mastery, and caring for clients with acute and chronic illness. By applying
theory in a modern nursing lab and through a real-world clinical placement, you gain well-rounded
knowledge that sets you up for success in your career and in life.
Notes:
1. The Bridging to University Nursing program does not accept transfer credits for ANY Nursing courses obtained through your
Practical Nursing (PN) education. Communication courses taken during PN education may be accepted. This post-diploma
specialty program is designed to build on prior learning obtained through your PN program.
2. When you graduate, you may apply to a post-diploma PN to BScN program (e.g., at Toronto Metropolitan University, formerly
Ryerson University). Graduation from the Bridging Certificate at Centennial College does not provide a guaranteed admission
to university. Graduates are encouraged to review appropriate admission requirements to university and to know that
applications remain competitive. Please check the University website for current admission requirements: torontomu.ca/
programs/undergraduate/nursing-post-diploma/.
3. The clinical placements will be offered within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). By applying to the program, you agree to have
clinical placement in the GTA.
4. To support your learning, this program requires you to have access to a mobile computing device that meets minimum
hardware requirements. Please visit the program page on our website for details.
5. The official Ministry name for this program is Bridging to University Nursing.
