FAST-TRACK<br />
Delivered at an accelerated pace, this program is for internationally-educated nurses looking to<br />
work as registered practical nurses (RPNs) in Canada, certificate-holding RPNs who wish to upgrade<br />
to an Ontario college diploma, <strong>and</strong> RPNs out of practice for 10 years or less. The curriculum is in<br />
accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario’s (CNO) Professional St<strong>and</strong>ards <strong>and</strong> National<br />
Entry-to-Practice Competencies for Registered Practical Nurses. It focuses on developing knowledge,<br />
critical thinking, communication, teaching <strong>and</strong> learning, advocacy, research, leadership, <strong>and</strong> ethicaldecision<br />
making skills — <strong>and</strong> applying them in health care settings. Participating in a practice course<br />
<strong>and</strong> a 14-week consolidation period in clinical settings prepares you to be a leader.<br />

1. The Practical Nurse diploma for IENs at Centennial College is currently approved by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).<br />
Current graduates from this program are eligible to apply for registration as RPNs in Ontario. For further information regarding<br />

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS<br />
• Completion of a post-secondary certificate in partical nursing<br />
• An applicant must have practiced as a nurse or completed their nursing education within<br />
the last 10 years as indicated in the Letter of Direction from the CNO.<br />
• Students who do not have a CNO Letter of Direction will require course-by-course<br />
assessment report from one of the following:<br />
1. World Education Services (WES)<br />
2. International Credential Assessment Service (ICAS)<br />
• Canadian <strong>Certificate</strong> Prepared RPNs: Current College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)<br />
certificate of registration<br />
• Internationally-educated Nurses: Submit letter from the CNO stating the courses/program<br />
required to write the practical nurse registration exam<br />
• Transcript <strong>and</strong> resumé review may be required<br />
• Interview with program coordinator is required prior to submitting an application<br />
• Centennial College English Skills Assessment (must achieve a minimum score of<br />
COMM 160/161 with a minimum listening score of 90)<br />
• English language proficiency<br />
• English assessment<br />
