If you are science-minded, fascinated with technology, <strong>and</strong> enjoy problem solving, Biotechnology<br />
turns these qualities into an industrial microbiology <strong>and</strong> chemistry career. In fact, if you are qualified,<br />
you can receive your advanced diploma in four semesters by entering Year 2 (Semester 3) of this<br />
three-year program. In addition to specialized study of biotechnology applications, biochemistry,<br />
microbial genetics, <strong>and</strong> clinical <strong>and</strong> environmental microbiology, project work enhances your<br />
research skills, laboratory techniques, report writing, <strong>and</strong> presentations. <strong>Graduate</strong> with the ability to<br />
isolate, enumerate, <strong>and</strong> identify microorganisms from samples; accurately calibrate <strong>and</strong> use a range<br />
of instruments; prepare microbiological media <strong>and</strong> reagents to culture pathogenic microbes; <strong>and</strong><br />
more. The program’s holistic approach prepares you to excel in work <strong>and</strong> in life.<br />
Note: This program is taught using a combination of modalities. Courses may be delivered face-to-face, online, or in a blended/<br />
hybrid combination of both online <strong>and</strong> traditional classroom teaching<br />

• This program has met the national educational st<strong>and</strong>ards of Canada’s engineering technology <strong>and</strong> applied<br />
science profession, <strong>and</strong> as such, has received national program accreditation from Technology Accreditation<br />
Canada (TAC).<br />
• The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians <strong>and</strong> Technologists (OACETT) recognizes this TAC<br />
nationally-accredited program as meeting the academic st<strong>and</strong>ard for certification in the Certified Engineering<br />
Technologist (C.E.T.) category as well as the OACETT technology report <strong>and</strong> language benchmark requirements.<br />
