This program helps registered practical nurses advance to a nursing degree. Offered part time <strong>and</strong><br />

delivered over six continuous semesters, prepare to continue your education at the university level,<br />

<strong>and</strong> care for individuals, groups, <strong>and</strong> communities in multiple settings. With a curriculum based on<br />

the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Entry-to-Practice Competencies <strong>and</strong> St<strong>and</strong>ards of Practice for<br />

Registered Nursing, the program covers ethics <strong>and</strong> professional practice, health assessment, skill<br />

mastery, <strong>and</strong> caring for clients with acute <strong>and</strong> chronic illness. By applying theory in nursing labs <strong>and</strong><br />

through real-world clinical placements, gain well-rounded knowledge that sets you up for success in<br />

your career <strong>and</strong> life.<br />

Notes:<br />

1. To take this program, you must be an RPN who holds a diploma from an Ontario community college of applied arts <strong>and</strong><br />

technology (CAAT) with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.<br />

2. Degree completion requirements offered by Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) are taken on a parttime<br />

basis over 30 months.<br />

3. To support your learning, this program requires you to have access to a mobile computing device that meets minimum<br />

hardware requirements.<br />

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS<br />

• Ontario College Diploma in practical nursing with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher<br />

(B average)<br />

• No repeated courses or failures on all nursing academic transcripts. Applicants must<br />

submit official transcripts from all accredited post-secondary institutions that they have<br />

attended.<br />

Please note that admission to Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), formerly Ryerson University, is not<br />

guaranteed <strong>and</strong> remains a competitive process. It is the sole responsibility of the applicant to review all<br />

admission criteria for TMU prior to application.<br />

For Registered Practical Nurses<br />

» Transcripts from an Ontario community college diploma program (inclusion of courses<br />

in anatomy <strong>and</strong> physiology <strong>and</strong> pathophysiology)<br />

» Proof of current registration with the CNO as a Registered Practical Nurse, Entitled to<br />

Practice with No Restrictions.<br />

» Obtain a clear police check with vulnerable sector screening. Vulnerable Sector<br />

Screenings must be issued within six months of each placement start date. Any<br />

previous criminal record must be pardoned.<br />
