“I think you bruised something,” he told Angel casually, wiggling carefully on the<br />
messy sheets.<br />
“What can I say. You drive me wild,” Angel deadpanned.<br />
Xander laughed heartily. “Oh, if only you were Cordy.”<br />
“It really over with you two?”<br />
“Yeah. She made that clear.” The cover story that Cordelia had dumped Xander was<br />
fairly well-received by the entire gang. Nobody seemed too surprised. It irked<br />
Xander more than he was allowed to admit.<br />
It wasn’t all false. Cordy really did dump him. But the fact that it was Xander’s<br />
intention for Cordy to dump him was what Xander couldn’t tell anyone. And it was<br />
so easy. All he had to do was tell her the truth about the nature of his “relationship”<br />
with Spike and Angel. Once she learned of the act that always preceded the bite,<br />
well that was a reality that the captain of the cheerleading squad could not deal<br />
with.<br />
Their parting wasn’t angry or fierce, but she did make it clear that she couldn’t even<br />
look at him anymore. It bothered Xander a little. He felt no shame in what he was<br />
doing, so to see the disgust on Cordy’s face was disconcerting. But he was able to<br />
push past it quick enough and now, almost a week later, Cordelia was a fading<br />
memory. Just a blurb in his chapter in Giles’ Watcher Diary that Xander knew the<br />
old man was writing, even though Giles tried to keep it hidden.<br />
Angel stood up, stretched, then found his clothes and dressed quickly. Xander was<br />
on the verge of post-orgasm/bite sleep when Angel stopped in the doorway and<br />
turned around to address him.<br />
“Xander, may I ask a favor?” Xander opened one eye, then the other when he saw<br />
the seriousness on Angel’s face. He propped himself up on his elbows.<br />
