“Not all the time. Just when you two go hunting. I’ve never gone into the factory.”<br />

“Aren’t you worried he’ll kill me?”<br />

“I suspect that when he kills you, he’ll do it because you asked him to.”<br />

Xander stood up, knocking his chair over. “You think I’m going to ask Spike to kill<br />

me?”<br />

Angel sat patiently, sipping his hot chocolate. “I told you it would end badly.<br />

You’re dealing with evilness, Xander. This isn’t a romantic musical comedy that<br />

concludes with trumpets blaring and you two kissing as the curtains close. Evil is<br />

evil. It doesn’t change.”<br />

Xander righted his chair and took his seat again. “Unless you get a soul? Right? No<br />

more evil?”<br />

“I still have evil in me, Xander. That hasn’t changed. It’s the soul in me that’s<br />

changed. And the soul is more powerful than the evil. Evil, by nature, is weakness.<br />

Good is power.”<br />

“Profound.”<br />

“I try.”<br />

Xander took his empty mug to the kitchen sink, filled it with water and left in the<br />

basin. He leaned on the counter and turned back to Angel.<br />

“So I’m supposed to keep Spike in tonight, huh? What have you got planned with<br />

Buffy?”<br />

“Just some private time for us. Can you stay at the factory all night?”<br />

“Oh. ‘Private time.’ Subtle, man.”<br />

“I’m not planning anything specific. Thought it was time we have a quiet romantic
