Mr Stephen Cain<br />
Stephen is the Chief Executive Offi cer <strong>of</strong> the City <strong>of</strong> Cockburn. Over the past 18 years he has held senior management positions<br />
in the private and government sectors and has extensive experience in logistics and management. Prior to this he served for 11<br />
years as an Offi cer in the Australian Regular Army and is a graduate <strong>of</strong> the Royal Military College, Duntroon. He continues to<br />
serve in the Reserve Forces and holds the rank <strong>of</strong> Colonel.<br />
Stephen holds a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts Degree (Honours), Graduate Diploma in Information Systems and a Masters <strong>of</strong> Business<br />
Administration. He is a Fellow <strong>of</strong> the Chartered Institute <strong>of</strong> Transport and Logistics and is also a Governor <strong>of</strong> the Corps <strong>of</strong><br />
Commissionaires, a ‘not for pr<strong>of</strong>i t’ organisation that assists ex service personnel.<br />

Ms Cheryl Bridge<br />
Cheryl has nine years experience in Vocational Education and Training and for three years was Manager <strong>of</strong> Kadadjiny Mia Centre<br />
for Aboriginal Learning at <strong>Challenger</strong> <strong>TAFE</strong>. Cheryl is currently a Program Manager Diversity and Community Development.<br />
Cheryl has represented the College on a number <strong>of</strong> regional committees including the Youth Advantage Strategy and Peel<br />
Employment Committee. As a member <strong>of</strong> the Indigenous community, Cheryl is passionate about ensuring Aboriginal people<br />
have access to the best possible training opportunities.<br />

Ms Helen Cattalini OAM<br />
Helen is the Chair <strong>of</strong> <strong>Challenger</strong> <strong>TAFE</strong>’s Planning and Development Committee. She is a former Commissioner <strong>of</strong> Multicultural<br />
and Ethnic Affairs in the Government <strong>of</strong> <strong>Western</strong> Australia. She was awarded a Member <strong>of</strong> the Order <strong>of</strong> Australia Medal in 1998<br />
for services to the community. Since 1987, she has been a Director <strong>of</strong> Helen Cattalini Consultancy Services Pty Ltd, a company<br />
specialising in social research, as well as policy and program development in government, local government and<br />
community sectors.<br />

Mr David English<br />
David has over twenty years experience working in the <strong>Western</strong> Australian mining and resource industries. He is a degreequalifi<br />
ed Engineer (BE Mech.) and has completed a Masters in Leadership Management through Curtin University. David has<br />
held numerous board and committee positions as part <strong>of</strong> his active support for training and development in industry and the<br />
community. He is married with three school-aged children.<br />
Term <strong>of</strong> Appointment: 1/01/05 – 31/12/07<br />
Ms Liz Harris (A/Managing Director)<br />
Liz has worked in the fi eld <strong>of</strong> Adult and Vocational Education for the past twenty years. She has been with <strong>Challenger</strong> <strong>TAFE</strong> for<br />
seven years and has held a number <strong>of</strong> different positions over this period including Academic Manager and Director, General<br />
Manager Training Research & Development. Liz has a diverse range <strong>of</strong> experience in the VET and Higher Education sectors<br />
having spent two years lecturing and researching in the fi eld <strong>of</strong> Adult Education at Murdoch University, and three and a half<br />
years as a National Strategy Director with the former Australian National Training Authority (ANTA). Liz has also spent fi ve years<br />
working in VET internationally, having worked in Japan for three years, in Sri Lanka for a year and in Fiji for eighteen months.<br />
Among other post-graduate qualifi cations, Liz holds a Masters degree in Adult Education. Her interests and areas <strong>of</strong> research<br />
included the role <strong>of</strong> workforce learning in organisational development<br />
