Mr Rob Player (A/Managing Director)<br />
Robert was A/Managing Director <strong>Challenger</strong> <strong>TAFE</strong> from March to December. He came from New South Wales originally to join<br />
the Department <strong>of</strong> Training in 2000. In NSW Robert had over 20 years experience in <strong>TAFE</strong>NSW in teaching, college management<br />
and head <strong>of</strong>fi ce positions. As a member <strong>of</strong> the Committee appointed to review the WA training sector in 2002, (The “McRae<br />
Review” - ‘Review Of The Training Sector: Positioning The Training Sector For Excellence’), Robert played a signifi cant part in the<br />
reform <strong>of</strong> vocational education and training in WA. He has represented the WA position as member <strong>of</strong> a number <strong>of</strong> National<br />
Task Forces and Committees including the Ministerial Council on Education Employment Training and Youth Affairs (MCEETYA)<br />
Task Force – ‘Transition from School’; the Steering Committee on the ‘<strong>Report</strong> to the National Training Quality Council VET in<br />
Schools and the AQTF’; and the NTQC Committee - High Level Review <strong>of</strong> Training Packages. Within WA, Robert has contributed<br />
to a range <strong>of</strong> State Committees, Reviews and Taskforces, including the Committee appointed to review the interface between<br />
the <strong>Western</strong> Australian Departments <strong>of</strong> Education and <strong>of</strong> Training, (The “Tannock Review” - ‘Review <strong>of</strong> the Interface Between<br />
Education and Training In WA’ 2002). Robert is a member <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Western</strong> Australian Curriculum Council, and Chair <strong>of</strong> the<br />
<strong>Western</strong> Australian ACE Advisory Committee. Robert moved to the role <strong>of</strong> acting Deputy Director General Department <strong>of</strong><br />
Education and Training in December.<br />

Mr Rasa Subramaniam OAM, JP<br />
Rasa arrived in Australia in 1968 and is Senior Medical Imaging Technologist at Fremantle Hospital. He was the fi rst Asian to<br />
be elected to Local Government in <strong>Western</strong> Australia in 1991. Since its inception, Rasa has been a member <strong>of</strong> the Multicultural<br />
Advisory Committee <strong>of</strong> the City <strong>of</strong> Melville. On Australia Day in 1995, he was awarded Citizen <strong>of</strong> the Year by the City <strong>of</strong> Melville,<br />
as well as a Medal <strong>of</strong> the Order <strong>of</strong> Australia for his services to multicultural organisations, the Tamil community and local<br />
government. In 2003, he was awarded the Centenary <strong>of</strong> Federation Medal for his outstanding contribution to the promotion <strong>of</strong><br />
multiculturalism. He is also a member <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Western</strong> Australian Council for Safety and Quality in Health Care.<br />

9.2 <strong>Challenger</strong> <strong>TAFE</strong> Executive<br />
Ms Liz Harris (General Manager Training Research and Development to Dec <strong>2006</strong>) has a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts (Literature & Media), a<br />
Graduate Diploma in Applied Linguistics, a Graduate Diploma in Adult and Tertiary Education and a Master <strong>of</strong> Education degree.<br />
Liz is the General Manager Training, Research and Development and was previously a Training Director in the College. Liz has an<br />
extensive and diverse background in the fi eld <strong>of</strong> vocational education and learning in post-secondary sectors, having worked at<br />
the national level with the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA) for three years, as well as in the university sector.<br />
Mr Neil McAullay (General Manager Business Services) has a Diploma in Public Administration and has been responsible for<br />
corporate services at <strong>Challenger</strong> <strong>TAFE</strong> for approximately 12 years. Prior to that he occupied a senior manager role with the WA<br />
Public Service Commission with responsibility for organisational development and human resource management issues.<br />
Mr Jan Lipiec (General Manager Client Services and Communications) has a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Business and a Masters <strong>of</strong> Business<br />
Administration. Having spent most <strong>of</strong> his customer service career in the private sector, including ten years with Qantas Holidays,<br />
Jan joined the WA Public Sector in 2000. Commencing his public service at the Department <strong>of</strong> Transport as Director, Customer<br />
Service, Jan then joined <strong>Challenger</strong> <strong>TAFE</strong> in 2003. In addition to his passion for effective client service delivery, Jan has experience<br />
in marketing and business management.<br />
Ms Cheryll Meade (General Manager Teaching and Learning) has a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Applied Science (Mathematics), Graduate<br />
Diploma in Education and Statements <strong>of</strong> Attainment for Assessment & Workplace Training. Cheryll has extensive experience in<br />
the education sector including Curriculum Manager at the Curriculum Council and executive roles for the Ministerial Review into<br />
the Interface between Education and Training (the Tannock <strong>Report</strong>) and the Department <strong>of</strong> Education & Training’s review <strong>of</strong> the<br />
educational needs <strong>of</strong> 15 to 19 year olds in WA. Cheryll resigned October <strong>2006</strong>.
