Since its inception, SBS has championed
the sports which contribute to a more
inclusive society. We continue to be
recognised as the home of international
football. The World Game is unrivalled in
the sporting world for its popularity and
global reach.
SBS built on its 30 year football pedigree,
securing the media rights to the 2018
and 2022 FIFA World Cups, on top of
having already secured the media rights
to the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
SBS has been Australia’s official broadcaster of
international cycling’s pinnacle event le Tour de France
for 22 years. In 2011, 6.4 million viewers nationally tuned
in to SBS’s coverage as Cadel evans became the first
Australian rider to win the event.
