Mr Skrzynski has made a significant contribution to the community, arts and the media since 1969. He served as the Chairman of the Sydney Opera House Trust; the Australian Film Television and Radio School; and The Broadcast Council of Australia. He has been the Chief executive of The Australian Film Commission, and a director of the National Investment Council, and The Major Organizations Board of the Australia Council, and is currently a director of The united States Studies Centre at the university of Sydney. He has extensive experience in managing private and public companies and strong expertise in financial matters, including his position as Founding Partner, CHAMP Private equity. Dr Bulent Hass Dellal OAM – non-executive Director (Deputy Chairman) Appointed 3 June 2010 for five years, Dr Dellal has been the executive Director of the Australian Multicultural Foundation since 1989. He is also Chairman of the Centre for Multicultural Youth; Chairman of the National Centre of excellence for Islamic Studies Consultative Committee (Melbourne university); Member, the Multicultural Arts Advisory Council Victoria; and an Advisory Board Member on the Global Terrorism Research Centre, School of Political and Social Inquiry, Monash university. Dr Dellal has also served as a Member, Multicultural Advisory Committee of the Family Court of Australia; Board Member, Adult Multicultural education Services; Co-Chairperson, Police and Community Multicultural Advisory Committee; and Sitting Member, Victoria Police ethical Standards Consultative Committee; and on the Commonwealth Government’s Australian Multicultural Advisory Council. Dr Dellal was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 1997 for service to multicultural organisations, the arts and the community.
Michael ebeid – Managing Director Mr ebeid commenced as Managing Director of SBS in June 2011. He has more than 24 years’ experience in senior management and executive roles across the technology, telecommunications and media industries. Prior to SBS, Michael was the executive Director of Corporate Strategy and Marketing at the ABC. In 2005, Mr ebeid joined Two Way Limited, an interactive TV, mobile and online entertainment media business as Chief Operating Officer and then as Chief executive Officer, where he took the company into Asia. From 1995– 2005, Michael was with Optus Communications, where he was Director of Commercial Operations for Consumer and Multimedia, and he was also a Board member of subscription TV’s industry body, ASTRA, from 2001– 05. Prior to Optus, Michael was at IBM for nine years in various roles across finance, sales and marketing, and worked in Tokyo and other Asian countries. Mr ebeid completed a Bachelor of Business (Charles Sturt university), International executive Development Program (INSeAD Business College, France), and Media Strategies Program (Harvard Business School, Boston). Patricia Azarias – non-executive Director Appointed 14 June 2006 for five years, and reappointed for a further five years on 30 June 2011. Ms Azarias is an economist and former Director of the Internal Audit Division of the united Nations, the highest ranking Australian staff member in the uN. Her previous positions include Regional General Manager, Business and Private Banking, National Australia Bank; Director, Infrastructure Funding, NSW Department of Transport (2003); Chief executive, Ministry of urban Infrastructure Management and Director, Infrastructure Coordination unit in the NSW Premier’s Department (2002– 03); and Director, Public Accounts Committee, Parliament of NSW (1991–2001). elleni Bereded-Samuel – non-executive Director Appointed 27 March 2009 for five years. Ms Bereded- Samuel is currently the Community engagement Advisor and Coordinator with Victoria university, and past Chair of the SBS Community Advisory Committee. These positions build on her previous work as a journalist and a television presenter on ethiopian Television. She has served on the Inaugural Australian Social Inclusion Board, the Victorian Multicultural Commission, the Women’s Hospital Board, and chaired the Community Advisory and Diversity Committee. In 2008 Ms Bereded-Samuel was selected as one of twelve significant women in Victoria as part of 100 years of women’s suffrage reflection and celebration. Ms Bereded-Samuel was a participant at the 2020 summit. In 2008, Ms. Bereded-Samuel won the 2008 Diversity@Work Individual Champion National Award for Diversity and Inclusion. Recently Ms Bereded- Samuel has been appointed to the Western Health Board and chairs the Cultural Diversity and Community Advisory Committee. Jacqueline Hey – non-executive Director Appointed 30 June 2011, Ms Hey has extensive experience in the areas of telecommunications, marketing and sales, including previous roles as CeO of ericsson in the uK/Ireland, Australia/New Zealand and Saudi Arabia. She worked with ericsson for more than 20 years in finance, marketing, sales and leadership roles in Australia, Sweden, the uK and the Middle east. In her current roles, Ms Hey is a director on the Board of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank. Ms Hey is also the Honorary Consul for Sweden in Victoria. Daryl Karp – non-executive Director Appointed 30 June 2011, Ms Karp is a senior consultant with RPR Consulting, specialising in industry analysis, growth and innovation in the creative industries and Managing Director of Tattooed Media Pty Ltd. She is also a director of the Australian Children’s Television Foundation. Her previous positions include CeO and Managing Director, Film Australia, Head of Factual Programs (Television), Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), and Head of Science and Documentaries/Science and Features at the ABC.
