POLICIES AND INFORMATION<br />
faith in Jesus Christ, within which all people are regarded as children of God and<br />
are to be treated accordingly.<br />
The Student Code of Conduct, the full text of which appears in the Student<br />
Handbook, outlines behavioral expectations and possible consequences for behavior<br />
that violates the code of conduct. It also details procedures to be followed in reporting<br />
a violation, and procedures for hearings and appeals.<br />
POLICY ON NONDISCRIMINATION<br />
It is the policy of <strong>Austin</strong> <strong>Presbyterian</strong> <strong>Theological</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> not to discriminate on<br />
the basis of sex, age, race, national and ethnic origin, or handicapping condition<br />
in its educational programs, student activities, employment or admissions policies,<br />
in the administration of its scholarship and loan programs, or in any other schooladministered<br />
programs. The <strong>Seminary</strong> will attempt to make whatever arrangements<br />
are necessary to ensure that students with a handicapping condition are able to study<br />
and live at the <strong>Seminary</strong>. Persons with a handicap who have questions about the<br />
admissions process should contact the Offi ce of Admissions.<br />
An employee who believes he or she has been discriminated against should consult<br />
the employee manual for procedures on reporting the incident. Students should<br />
follow the procedures outlined in the Code of Conduct in the Student Handbook.<br />
Regarding Title IX, all inquiries should be directed to the vice president for business<br />
affairs who serves as the Title IX offi cer for <strong>Austin</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>.<br />
POLICY ON SEXUAL HARASSMENT<br />
<strong>Austin</strong> <strong>Presbyterian</strong> <strong>Theological</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>, in accordance with section 703 of the<br />
Civil Rights Act of 1964 and in recognition of its role as an educational institution<br />
of the <strong>Presbyterian</strong> Church (U.S.A.), will not condone or disregard incidences of<br />
sexual harassment. It is the <strong>Seminary</strong>’s policy and determinate duty to establish an<br />
environment in which the dignity and worth of all members of the institutional<br />
community are respected. Sexual harassment of students and employees at <strong>Austin</strong><br />
<strong>Presbyterian</strong> <strong>Theological</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> is unacceptable conduct and will not be tolerated.<br />

NONACADEMIC PROBATION<br />
In the exercise of its oversight of all students, the faculty’s Committee on Student<br />
Life and Student Standing may place on nonacademic probation any student<br />
whose continued enrollment at the <strong>Seminary</strong> is in question on other than academic<br />
grounds. Reasons for such action include persistent failure in moral responsibility,<br />
intellectual dishonesty in academic and ministerial tasks, or irresponsibility in<br />
fi nancial obligations and dealings.<br />
After review with the student, the committee shall make known by written report<br />
to the student and the academic dean its action in placing a student on nonacademic<br />
probation. The report shall include the nature of the problem in question, as well<br />
as the specifi c course of probationary discipline which is proposed to the student<br />
to correct the diffi culties or inadequacies.<br />
Nonacademic probation shall be applied for a period of not more than one<br />
calendar year, during which time there shall be full opportunity for the student to<br />
meet the conditions of any probationary discipline.<br />
