Bi.325* THE CHURCH AS HOUSEHOLD
A key concept for the New Testament understanding of the Christian gospel is that of
“eschatological existence.” But what does the term mean, and how can it be decoded in a
substantive way for appropriation in contemporary thought and speech? This course seeks
to discover ways to make such appropriation through the study of household and human
community which were, for the New Testament writings, vehicles for understanding this new
reality. The subject matter is divided into four major categories: Table Fellowship, Inheritance,
Household Code Tradition, Jesus and the Old Testament. Prerequisite: Bi.216. Six credits.
