SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
The Offi ce of Financial Aid provides the Student Financial Assistance Program
brochure and Financial Aid Application to applicants for admission into the
MATS and MDiv degree programs and to returning students. Applications are to
be completed and returned promptly to the fi nancial aid offi ce by both new and
returning students. Once completed, the applications are reviewed by the director
of fi nancial aid. Students who qualify for fi nancial aid are notifi ed of the amount
and type of assistance available. This notifi cation is made prior to registration so
that students will have a clearer picture of their fi nancial situation before enrolling
in seminary for any given term.
Approved fi nancial aid grants and scholarships are credited to the student’s
account with the Offi ce of Business Affairs and are fi rst applied against Seminary
charges such as tuition, rent, board, and fees. This aid is subject to proportional
adjustment should a recipient drop a course or withdraw from seminary. Students
receiving grants and scholarships that exceed in aggregate the cost of tuition and
course-related expenses (books, fees, etc.) will fi nd those funds treated as unearned
income under the Tax Reform Act of 1986.
