HISPANIC SUMMER PROGRAM<br />
The Hispanic Summer Program (HSP) is a two-week program which provides<br />
Hispanic theological students an opportunity to study in an Hispanic setting<br />
with Latino/a peers and professors. <strong>Austin</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> is one of 37 ATS-accredited<br />
theological schools which sponsor the program.<br />
Ordinarily, course work is taught primarily in Spanish. Students may do their<br />
academic work and participate in class discussions in either English or Spanish but<br />
must be able to read materials both in Spanish and English. For each course there<br />
are assignments to be completed prior to the beginning of the program. All other<br />
work must be completed within two weeks after the end of the program. Students<br />
may take up to two courses during the program. Each course is valued at four <strong>Austin</strong><br />
<strong>Seminary</strong> credits. The next session will meet June 13-26, 2009, in Dallas, Texas, at<br />
Perkins School of Theology at SMU.<br />
Financial aid is available to cover part of the expenses for travel, room, meals, and<br />

HOUSTON EXTENSION PROGRAM<br />
<strong>Austin</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> offers MATS and MDiv courses through its Houston Extension<br />
program. This program is designed primarily for persons who are interested in<br />
beginning study toward a fi rst theological degree and laypersons who want to<br />
deepen their own theological understanding. Students who enroll in these courses<br />
for academic credit are classifi ed as Special Students at <strong>Austin</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> and have the<br />
same status as Special Students enrolled in course work on the <strong>Austin</strong> campus.<br />
Classes ordinarily are conducted at Grace <strong>Presbyterian</strong> Church, 10221 Ella<br />
Lee at Sam Houston Tollway/Beltway 8, Houston, Texas. The Rev. Dr. James S.<br />
Currie, 4807 San Felipe, Houston, Texas, 77056, serves as associate dean for the<br />
program.<br />
PRESBYTERIAN EXCHANGE PROGRAM<br />
This program of cross-registration between the ten theological institutions of the<br />
<strong>Presbyterian</strong> Church (U.S.A.) is designed to strengthen the theological education<br />
of persons preparing for ministry in the denomination. The program seeks to make<br />
available to students the particular strength of each institution.<br />
<strong>Presbyterian</strong> students registered in a master’s degree program in one of the ten<br />
institutions can take courses at any of the other institutions without payment of<br />
additional tuition and fees. Tuition and fees for a course will be charged and retained<br />
at the school in which a student is enrolled as a degree candidate.<br />
Students may spend up to the equivalent of one year of full-time study in this<br />
program. <strong>Austin</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> is responsible for determining how course work will be<br />
applied to a student’s program of study and will determine the amount of credit to<br />
be granted for a particular course. The registrar has available program guidelines<br />
and applications for cross-registration at the other PC(USA) institutions.<br />
