CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP EDUCATION<br />
The Christian Leadership Education program of <strong>Austin</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> promotes lifelong<br />
learning through a variety of continuing education and professional development<br />
offerings including on- and off-campus seminars, workshops, and conferences on<br />
a variety of subjects, opportunities for structured independent study.<br />
ON-CAMPUS PROGRAMS<br />
<strong>Austin</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> schedules a variety of continuing education and professional<br />
development events for pastors, Christian educators, and lay persons each year at<br />
its <strong>Austin</strong> campus. The schedule of current offerings is available through the Offi ce<br />
of Christian Leadership Education, or on the Lifelong Learning page of our Web<br />
site, www.austinseminary.edu/lifelong.<br />
OFF-CAMPUS PROGRAMS<br />
Faculty members at <strong>Austin</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> are available to work with synod and presbytery<br />
groups and others who wish to study in their own region. Write or call the Offi ce<br />
of Christian Leadership Education for more information.<br />
INDEPENDENT STUDY<br />
In addition to seminars, <strong>Austin</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> offers opportunities for periods of<br />
independent study, which may include scheduled consultations with a professor.<br />
Dates, facilities, and faculty resources may be arranged through the Offi ce of<br />
Christian Leadership Education.<br />
THE EARLE W. CRAWFORD CONTINUING EDUCATION CENTER<br />
The Earle W. Crawford Continuing Education Center was established in 1996<br />
to honor the Reverend Dr. Earle W. Crawford, distinguished pastor of First<br />
<strong>Presbyterian</strong> Church of Wichita Falls, Texas, from 1950 to 1978. The Earle W.<br />
Crawford Continuing Education Center occupies the second fl oor of the McCord<br />
Community Center and is the locus for on-campus Christian leadership education<br />
at the <strong>Seminary</strong> as well as conferences and special events.<br />
SMOOT CENTER<br />
The Smoot Center was established by the board of trustees in 1977 in honor of<br />
Dr. Richmond Kelley Smoot, cofounder of the predecessor institution to <strong>Austin</strong><br />
<strong>Seminary</strong>, the <strong>Austin</strong> School of Theology. Dr. Smoot also served as a professor at<br />
<strong>Austin</strong> <strong>Presbyterian</strong> <strong>Theological</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>. This center is used for Christian leadership<br />
events and by seminary groups and others for seminars and meetings.<br />
