9. International applicants, in addition to the application procedures and<br />

TOEFL requirements outlined above, must also submit proof of adequate<br />

fi nancial funding to cover living and educational costs for the duration of<br />

the program.<br />

If admitted as an international student the following items are required:<br />

� Intent to Matriculate form signed and returned to the Office of<br />

Admissions;<br />

� completed Biographical Data for International Applicant form; and<br />

� a fi nancial deposit, due by May 1, equal to one-half the minimum annual<br />

student budget.<br />

� An international student currently studying in the United States on<br />

an F-1 visa who desires to transfer this status to <strong>Austin</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> is<br />

eligible to do so only if his or her F-1 student status is being maintained.<br />

International applicants verify their F-1 student status by completing a<br />

Transfer Request for International Student form, available from the <strong>Austin</strong><br />

<strong>Seminary</strong> Offi ce of Admissions. This form requires the signature of the<br />

international student advisor at the United States institution the applicant<br />

most recently attended. When completed, the form is returned to the<br />

Offi ce of Admissions.<br />

The Form I-20 A-B will be issued to the international student once all<br />

standards for admission have been met and all required items received.<br />

ACTION AND NOTIFICATION<br />

When the application process is completed, consideration and action will<br />

be taken by the Admissions Committee. Notifi cation of such action will be<br />

communicated to the applicant no later than one month prior to the term for<br />

which the applicant has applied.<br />

DEFERRING MATRICULATION<br />

An applicant admitted to a degree program who desires to delay beginning<br />

theological study at <strong>Austin</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> must submit a written request for deferment<br />

of matriculation. This request is reviewed and acted upon by the Admissions<br />

Committee. Matriculation can be deferred up to one year. Applicants admitted as<br />

provisional students cannot defer matriculation.<br />

II. MATRICULATION PROCESS<br />

To complete admission an applicant:<br />

1. must sign and return the Intent to Matriculate form;<br />

2. must have fi nal and offi cial transcripts on fi le with the Offi ce of Admissions<br />

which indicate degree(s) obtained and the date(s) of graduation (Matriculation<br />

into the <strong>Seminary</strong> cannot be effected until this supplementary record has been<br />

received.);<br />

3. must have successfully completed the criminal history check process,<br />

including driving records;<br />

4. must be present for and participate in orientation and registration on the days<br />

and times specifi ed in the academic calendar and orientation schedule;<br />
