workshop<br />

Intended as an introducti<strong>on</strong> to the ACTFL Pr<strong>of</strong>iciency Guidelines–Writing (Revised<br />

2001), this workshop introduces participants to the major and minor level descriptors<br />

and the criteria for assigning a global writing pr<strong>of</strong>iciency rating Participants<br />

explore a variety <strong>of</strong> writing tasks across levels <strong>of</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>iciency, evaluate language<br />

samples based <strong>on</strong> the criteria as described in the Guidelines, and design appropriate<br />

writing activities and writing assessment prompts at the four major levels<br />

ACTFL celebrates 30 years <strong>of</strong> the ACTFL Oral Pr<strong>of</strong>iciency<br />

Interview (OPI) in 2012. Developed in 1982, the OPI is<br />

now recognized within the united States and internati<strong>on</strong>ally<br />

as the standard for reliability and validity in the<br />

assessment <strong>of</strong> spoken language pr<strong>of</strong>iciency. <strong>The</strong> original<br />

12 languages have expanded to 100 languages; annual<br />

tests have grown from 200 to 30,000. Find out more<br />
