9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.: <strong>The</strong> Resume<br />

This sessi<strong>on</strong> will focus <strong>on</strong> resume<br />

writing for language teachers and<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essi<strong>on</strong>als, and will address<br />

different resume strategies, styles,<br />

formatting, what to include/exclude,<br />

and how to cover gaps in employment.<br />

We’ll review actual resume<br />

samples and discuss their strengths<br />

and weaknesses.<br />

4:30 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.: <strong>The</strong> Interview<br />

This sessi<strong>on</strong> will center around<br />

interviewing—getting past the ph<strong>on</strong>e<br />

screen, answering difficult questi<strong>on</strong>s,<br />

different types <strong>of</strong> interviews (situati<strong>on</strong>al,<br />

behavioral, group, panel, stress),<br />

and salary negotiati<strong>on</strong> are just some<br />

<strong>of</strong> the topics we’ll discuss.<br />

1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.: <strong>The</strong> Search<br />

In this sessi<strong>on</strong>, we will examine how<br />

to c<strong>on</strong>duct an effective job search including<br />

the best places to look, how<br />

to read a job posting, how to write<br />

a cover letter, as well as networking,<br />

using social media tools, and<br />

tapping into “hidden” employment<br />

markets.<br />

Rita will be available in between<br />

workshops throughout the day<br />

to answer questi<strong>on</strong>s <strong>on</strong>e-<strong>on</strong>-<strong>on</strong>e,<br />

provide mini-critiques <strong>of</strong> resumes,<br />

help job seekers prepare for<br />

interviews, and recommend<br />

additi<strong>on</strong>al resources and tools.<br />

landscape within the<br />

industry, alternate career opti<strong>on</strong>s<br />

for language teachers,<br />
