Key activities and events<br />

The year of <strong>2010</strong> was characterised by the implementation of a new <strong>AdP</strong> Group Shared Service relational model within the context<br />

of clarifying and strengthening the role of the Shared Service Centre within the <strong>AdP</strong> Group in accordance with strategic orientations<br />

handed down by <strong>AdP</strong> SGPS for this business unit.<br />

This model, which seeks to consolidate long lasting partnerships between <strong>AdP</strong> Serviços, the respective Business Units (BU’s) and<br />

company holdings, came into effect in April <strong>2010</strong> and has since driven a significant improvement in some key areas, in particular:<br />

• Greater clarification in the services provided, their scope, responsibilities of parties in their respective development and the definition<br />

of service levels;<br />

• Development of a relational platform - PACO - with the objective of monitoring services requested;<br />

• Consolidation of the service evaluation model, with a particular focus on the evaluation of projects and reviewing the overall<br />

service evaluation procedures;<br />

• Development of external communication bases, in particular the “+Serviços” bulletin with the objective of promoting <strong>AdP</strong> Serviços<br />

activities across group companies.<br />

Activities were also developed within the terms of efficiency and procedures resulting from this new relational model with particular<br />

emphasis on adapting management process of which one example is the initiative to review the timekeeping application and improving<br />

reporting processes seeking to ensure more robust monitoring of operational performance.<br />

Within this same context, efforts sought to boost the proximity between Business Units and <strong>AdP</strong> Serviços through promoting a<br />

strengthening of representation at the company Board of Directors level with the appointment of non executive directors from<br />

group BU’s thus strengthening the already existing relationships.<br />

Following the deep commitment of <strong>AdP</strong> Serviços to support studies for the negotiation of new partnerships between <strong>AdP</strong> and<br />

municipal authorities, the year of <strong>2010</strong> also saw monitoring of the launch of companies founded towards the end of 2009 and the<br />

merger processes in the meanwhile carried out. Within this scope, highlights from among the work carried out in adapting and<br />

implementing the already consolidated group processes include the implementation of ERP SAP, the implementation of institutional<br />

and commercial public relations campaigns and support for the contracting and management of group company human resources.<br />

We would also point to the adoption of the International Financial <strong>Report</strong>ing Standards (IFRS) by group companies involved the<br />

significant involvement of <strong>AdP</strong> Serviços, both in terms of accountancy supervision of the conversion of accounts and the development<br />

of financial reports, notes and accounts for the group in accordance with this model as well as the development and setting of<br />

parameters for SAP and Magnitude.<br />

Of the projects and initiatives undertaken by <strong>AdP</strong> Serviços management in <strong>2010</strong>, we would highlight the following facts:<br />

• Launch of preparations leading up to the launch of the public tender procedures for Fixed/Mobile Communications;<br />

• Launch of the “Water Type Safety Plans” project;<br />

• Implementation of optimisations in terms of biogas production and energy production from the sludge digestion phase at the Sul<br />

(Simria) wastewater treatment plant;<br />

• Drafting of regulatory models for the provision of public supplies of clean water and wastewater treatment services;<br />

• Implementation of SAP-BW across UNA-PD companies;<br />

• Development of the awareness campaign “Water in the Tap”, accompanying the events and protocol signing and the undertaking<br />

of institutional and internal communication and public relations campaigns.<br />

Aquasis<br />

The mission of Aquasis, Sistemas de Informação, S.A. is to develop and consolidate information technology systems able to:<br />

• set up, promote and retail a range of information system products and services (geographic information services, asset maintenance and<br />

management, integrated operation management and remote management, among others) for the technical management, operation and<br />

maintenance of water supply, wastewater and municipal solid waste collection, treatment and recovery systems;<br />

• provide services and implement solutions at group companies and in companies and management entities in the sector, across all<br />

the respective components, specifically, support IT architecture, handling and processing of data, technical assistance, postimplementation<br />

support and training;
