January 2012: Intelligent Energy Europe call
2012 will start with intelligent energy project as the call has opened before the Christmas
break with proposals to be submitted by the 8th of May 2012.
With Intelligent Energy Europe, your project can benefit from 75% co-financing in the
following field: energy efficiency in industries and buildings, renewable energies,
energy efficient transport.
February/March 2012: LIFE+ call
For its 20th anniversary, the 2012 EU LIFE+ call for proposals is expected to be published
around February-March of 2012, making available over 250 million Euro. LIFE+ can
provide 50% co-financing (and up to 75% by way of exception) to projects under these 3
areas of action:
LIFE+ Nature & Biodiversity:best practice or demonstration projects that contribute
to the implementation of the Birds and Habitats Directives
LIFE+ Environment & Policy:innovative or pilot projects that contribute to the implementation
of European environmental policy
LIFE+ Information & Communication: communication and awareness raising campaigns
on environmental, nature protection or biodiversity conservation issues
Contrary to the Eco-innovation initiative, LIFE+ focus on public-oriented projects, that is
environmental solutions with a public dimension where market uptake is not vital.
April/May 2012: Eco-innovation call
The Eco-innovation Info Day might take place on the 3rd of May 2012 (date to be confirmed),
around the same time as the official publication of the call.
This initiative co-finances 50% of pilot and replication projects. That is projects creating
and enlarging the market for an eco-innovative product, service or technology. This
initiative is thus market-oriented and focuses on SMEs beneficiaries even so any legal
person can apply.
From one year to another, there are 5 key areas for projects:
Materials recycling and recycling processes;
Sustainable building products;
Food and drink sector;
Water efficiency, treatment and distribution;
Greening business.

Mid July 2012: FP7 Environment call
Funding for collaborative EU research and development projects will be available via the
7th Framework Programme (FP7) under the Cooperation thematic Environment, including
climate change.
FP7 Environment call will be officially published by mid July 2012 but if you are interested
in a research project in that field, please contact your official Brussels NCP way
before the publication date to get insight on possible open topics.
The structure of the 2013 call will remain similar to the 2012 work programme with the
same 5 priorities:
Coping with climate change
Sustainable use and management of land and seas
Improving resource efficiency
Protecting citizens from environmental hazards
Mobilising environmental knowledge for policy, industry and society
You will also find similar key features like the two-stage-submission procedure, threshold
for budget allocation to SME.
