Moroccan exports still on the rise

Moroccan exports of F&V are still increasing.
According to data from the Moroccan
Ministry of Agriculture, fruit exports totalled
529 thousand tons in the season 2010/11,
an increase of 9% on that preceding it (478
thousand tons). In the case of vegetables,
there was an increase of 8%, from 671
thousand to 726 thousand tons.
Strawberry exports increased by 41%, and
those of courgettes and tomatoes by 22%.
It should be noted that Moroccan exports
are increasingly oriented towards Russia
(+51%) and the U.S. (+62%). (LS)

Exports of table grapes from countries in
the southern hemisphere are growing.
According to data from IQ Consulting, the
2011/2012 season will see a 4.48% rise
thanks to notable increases in Peruvian
and South African exports. New plantations
are beginning production in Peru, while
South Africa has benefited from a particularly
good season. However, supplies are
declining from Chile (-3.3%), Argentina (-
5-3%) and Brazil (-7.2%). (LS)
Marocco è ancora in aumento. Secondo i
dati diramati dal dipartimento Agricoltura
del Governo marocchino, nella stagione
2010/2011 le esportazioni di frutta sono
ammontate a 529mila tonnellate, con un
aumento del 9% rispetto alla stagione
precedente (478mila t). Per gli ortaggi si è
avuto un aumento dell’8%, passando da
671mila a 726mila tonnellate. Le esportazioni
di fragole sono aumentate del 41%,
mentre le zucchine e i pomodori del 22%.
Da notare che le esportazioni del Marocco
s’indirizzano sempre di più verso la
Russia (+51%) e gli Usa (+62%).
L’esportazione di uva da tavola dai Paesi
dell’emisfero sud è in crescita. Secondo i
dati di IQ consulting, la crescita per la stagione
2011/2012 sarà pari al 4,48% grazie
al forte contributo di Perù e Sudafrica.
In Perù stanno entrando in produzione
molti nuovi impianti, mentre in Sudafrica
si è beneficiato di un decorso stagionale
particolarmente benigno. È invece in calo
l’offerta da Cile (-3,3%), Argentina (-5-
3%) e Brasile (-7,2%).

Controversy continues to rage over the
Association Agreement between the EU
and Morocco which was blocked by the
European Parliament a few months ago.
MEP José Bovè has announced that he
intends to take the case to the
European Court of Justice. According to
Bovè, the accord is illegal since it does
not respect international treaties.
The French MEP points out that
Moroccan exports are «... 70% controlled
by three companies, two of which based
in Europe, which contradicts the idea that
the treaty of association could be of benefit
to small farmers». (LS)
Continuano le polemiche sugli accordi
di associazione fra Ue e Marocco, già
bloccati dal Parlamento europeo negli
scorsi mesi. Il parlamentare José Bovè
ha dichiarato di volere portare il caso
alla Corte di giustizia europea. Secondo
Bovè, il trattato deve essere considerato
illegale visto che non risponde ai
trattati internazionali.
Il parlamentare francese ha sottolineato
che l’export marocchino «…è controllato
per il 70% da tre imprese, due delle
quali con sede in Europa: questo contraddice
l’idea secondo cui il trattato di
associazione porterebbe un beneficio ai
piccoli agricoltori».
