L’agraphonNel contesto del complessivo naufragio <strong>di</strong> vasta parte delle fonti papiracee antiche,è <strong>di</strong>fficile per gli stu<strong>di</strong>osi moderni percepire l’aspetto complessivo <strong>degli</strong>antichi rotoli letterari. Di essi, infatti, si sono per lo più conservati frammenti appartenentia sezioni interne e ciò rende alquanto faticosi i nostri tentativi <strong>di</strong> ricostruirenella sua completezza la facies <strong>di</strong> questi manufatti 1 . A questo proposito,testimoni come P.Tebt. 269 2 risultano particolarmente preziosi perché ci aiutanoa fare più luce sulle tecniche proprie della produzione libraria antica.P.Tebt. 269 (11,7 x 14,5 cm) oggi conservato presso la Bancroft Library dellaUniversity of California (Berkeley), proviene dal contesto archeologico residenziale<strong>di</strong> Tebtynis 3 . Il papiro (databile su base paleografica al II d.C. 4 ) è un fram-1E. Turner sottolinea le <strong>di</strong>fficoltà che i papirologi hanno storicamente incontrato in sede <strong>di</strong> ricostruzionedei manufatti (cfr. TURNER 1994, 1-2). È anche per questa ragione che gli stu<strong>di</strong> papirologici hanno alungo trascurato questo settore d’indagine (cfr. JOHNSON 2004, 3-4).2L’esame del frammento (UC 2225) è stato condotto sulla base dell’immagine <strong>di</strong>gitale <strong>di</strong>sponibilepresso il sito del Center for the Tebtunis Papyri, dove il pezzo è conservato. Per l’immagine si veda lapagina web .3Sul verso, scritta in inchiostro nero da Grenfell e Hunt, leggiamo l’annotazione ‘T685’. L’in<strong>di</strong>cazione,come noto, si riferisce alle operazioni <strong>di</strong> recupero e/o spe<strong>di</strong>zione dei materiali scavati a Tebtynis. Sulsenso <strong>di</strong> tali note cfr. HANSON 2001, 601-4 e O’CONNELL 2007, 807-26. L’in<strong>di</strong>cazione ‘T685’ non collegail nostro reperto ad alcuno dei gruppi documentali già riconosciuti. Poiché, però, la sequenza <strong>di</strong>queste note non era priva <strong>di</strong> significato (O’CONNELL 2007, 818), segnaliamo che un altro papiro letterarioadespoto, <strong>di</strong> datazione incerta (I-IV d.C.), è contrassegnato dall’annotazione ‘T684’ (P.Tebt.Suppl.I 715; si consulti a proposito la scheda del Center for Tebtunis Papyri alla pagina web: ).4Cfr.
