Art. 1. There shall <strong>be</strong> perpetual peace and friendship <strong>be</strong>tween<br />

the Hon. English East India Company and H.H. the Soosoohonan.<br />

Art. 2. H.H. the Soosoohonan engages immediately to disband<br />

the whole of the present military force, except a guard of honor<br />

of 1000 man, and that neither he nor any prince or chief under<br />

his authority shall levy or maintain any military force without<br />

the approbation of the British Government, but that he will<br />

receive such military force as the British Government may <strong>dee</strong>rn<br />

adequate to the protection of his territories and person.<br />

Art. 3. In consideration of the expenses incurred by the British<br />

Government during the late hostilities, and of the protection<br />

to <strong>be</strong> thus afforded to his person and immediate territories as well<br />

as the general defence of the Island, H.H. agrees to deliver over<br />

to the entire management and sovereignty of the British Government<br />

his share of the districts of Cadoe and Pagitan, and the<br />

districts of Blora and Wierosobo.<br />
