INO edifício da torrefuncionava como aposentosdo pessoal ao serviço do Palácio.Na Torre do Relógio, junto ao Palácio de Queluz — o “VersaillesPortuguês”, encontramos a Pousada D. Maria I, cujo projectode adaptação é da autoria do arquitecto Carlos Ramos.Este espaço funcionava como um Palácio de Verão ao quala Corte acorria para assistir a serenatas e espectáculos,por comemoração dos santos ou dos aniversários. A partirde 1794, passou a residência fixa de D. Carlota Joaquinae do Príncipe Regente D. João VI.A Pousada apresenta uma decoração interior sumptuosade mobiliário português e colecções de escultura, de tapetesde Arraiolos, retratos, ourivesaria e porcelana chinesae europeia. A arquitectura da Pousada tem por base os estilosneoclássico, barroco e rococó e está situada numa envolventesem igual — rodeada de jardins históricos, repletosde esculturas, azulejos, lagos e fontes.The tower used to hostthe staff at the Palace’sservice.In the Clock Tower, close to the Queluz Palace— the “Portuguese Versailles” – we find the PousadaD. Maria I. The project of its adaptation was signed by therenowned architect Carlos Ramos.This building was conceived as a Summer Palace visitedby the Court members to take part in serenades and shows,for celebrations and anniversaries.After 1794 it became the home of Queen Carlota Joaquina andthe Regent Prince João VI. The Pousada presentsa sumptuous decoration in its interior with Portuguese furnitureand collections of sculptures, tapestries from Arraiolos,portraits, jewellery and Chinese and European porcelain.The architecture of the Pousada is based on the Neoclassical,Baroque and Rococo styles, and it is locatedin an incomparable setting – surrounded by historical gardensfull of sculptures, glazed tiles, lakes and fountains.Torre do Relógio | Clock Tower
