Nature-friendly
mats
Rana Hasır produces mats with
recycled plastic waste.
Recently, we hear very often that plastic waste threatens
a livable world. The principle of Recycling, in
which brands work more and more in every sector,
takes the form of a mat for the carpet sector. Rana
Hasır, which manufactures in this field, produces the
mat from plastic waste and performs its duty in this
regard. Yahya Çapkur, General Manager of Rana Hasır,
expresses that thousands of tons of waste plastics
are removed from seas and oceans and turned into
products.
First of all, when did you begin to work as Rana Hasır?
Could you tell us about the products you produce
as a brand and your capacity?
Rana Hasır was established in 2013 in Gaziantep 2nd
Organized Industrial Zone. Although its establishment
date is not very old, it has been continuing its activities
with the knowledge and experience of a family
working in carpet and yarn sector since 1965. We produce
plastic mats, mosque mats and exterior carpets.
Our products are used in some countries instead of
carpets, in some countries for insulation under the
carpet, in some countries as decorative carpets on the
facades. In the mosques in Turkey, beaches and picnic
areas are used. When we were established in 2013,
we have an annual production capacity of 500.000 m 2
and now we have an annual production capacity of
1.500.000 m 2 .
Which countries and regions do you ship your products
to?
Until 2018, we mainly worked in the Middle East and
African countries. Apart from these markets, we have
started to work with big chain markets in America
with our quality investments in recent years. Also in
some grocery chains in summer season in Turkey
also our products are sold.
What are the contributions you make to recycling and
the effects of these contributions on your products?
Consumers in the world are now shopping more
consciously. Recycling products are becoming more
and more important. Textile brands in the world have
made it a goal to increase the recycling rate of their
products every year.
We as Rana Hasır ffer our customers both recycling
and 100% Virgin Polypropylene. In this regard, we
encourage brands and customers to recycle as much
as we can. The fact that the product that people use
for decor in their homes is made from the recycling of
waste plastics, both the consumer and the company
as we are satisfied. This is my favorite part of this
work that I do for myself.
What is the volume that you made the world and in
Turkey’s manufacturing sector? How much share do
you get from this volume?
We produce products in the mosques in Turkey, it is
used in picnic areas and beaches. When people say
plastic mats, people still think of old times. However,
in Europe and America, this product is preferred to
replace carpets on the exterior and interior surfaces
as it does not stain and can be washed easily. It is
used in African countries instead of carpet because it
is much cheaper than carpet.
What would you like to add?
In summary, I care very much about Rana Hasır which
was founded as an investment of our company founded
by my grandfather Hilmi Çapkur in 1965. I am
proud to represent the 3rd generation of my family.
Every year thousands of tons of waste plastic away
from nature, seas and oceans away from being a product
that makes it possible to be in the company, what
makes me happy.
