Abstract:
This thesis deals with the question, what is the strategy of mental hygiene education at
the Waldorf school. The aim was to find out how mental hygiene at the Waldorf school
is educated and then compare this strategy with the strategy of mental hygiene
education at the school of traditional education system. Another aim of this study was to
show whether the correct strategy of mental hygiene education in elementary schools
has some influence on the development of the child. The research was made using an
analysis of the School Educational Programme for Elementary Education of the
Waldorf School in České Budějovice and a questionnaire method. 28 parents of children
attending the Waldorf primary school and 13 parents of children attending traditional
primary school were involved in the investigation. Parents of both groups were asked
the same questions regarding the issue of mental health education strategies in
elementary schooling. The collected answers of the probands of both groups were
mutually compared, evaluated and the results of the investigation were concluded and
then confronted with the initial hypotheses. Research has found that the Waldorf
educational system dedicates to mental health and mental hygiene of the child more
space than a traditional approach of education realized on classical type of primary
schools. Furthermore, it was found that the correct strategy of mental health education
has a positive influence on the development of mental health of the child.
