SUMMARYMoving to the patient satisfaction through the organizational excellenceThe purpose of the study was to analyze the staff’s job satisfaction as a precondition oforganizational performance to provide high quality health services. The quality of healthservices is characterized by several aspects, and one of them is staff’s job satisfaction, whichmakes available to measure the organizational climate, staff’s commitment, achievement ofgoals etc as well as to evaluate the competency of leadership.This study was conducted in Viljandi Hospital in April 2007 and included all staff membersof the hospital (n=748), excluded those who were away from work during the study. The selfadministeredanonymous questionnaire based on the questionnaire used previously inEstonian Health Promoting Hospitals to evaluate the staff’s job satisfaction. Thequestionnaire was adopted according to the objectives of present study.The response rate of the study was 65%. The respondents indicated rather high jobsatisfaction level – two third of them were satisfied with their job.
